Lake Nukabira !

 by Kazu

Saying "Good-bye" to Lake, I hit the road to Lake Nukabira. The wild forest is in Daisetsu National Park. I could find no camping site between the lakes but Lake Nukabira has them very near.
This is the lobby floor of the hotel I stayed on that day. It was so nice that I decided to take my wife next time.
The wide space with tatami floor was on the left side of the entrance. The restaurant was on the riverside of the hotel.  The appearance of the hotel can be seen in the tomorrow's post.

Typical Design of Onsen Hotel !

 by Kazu

I think that most of the rooms in hot spring bath hotel are designed like this. Japanese "Futon" should be set during the dinner time by the hotel staff.
The appearance of the hotel was so simple and its parking lot had enough space to accommodate so many tourists and skiers.
The ski gelande of this area was not so steep and even the novices can enjoy enough skiing and their stay in Nukabira Onsen Town.

One day in Nukabira Hot Spring Bath Area !

by Kazu

In the afternoon on a certain day, the hot spring area near Lake Nukabira was filled up with sunshine. But I could find nobody other than me on the road.
Only one souvenir shop in the town was open but no tourists were there. This ryokan has a hot spring spa like in the cave.
There were some log houses in the town. They were part of Inn. I got them ! On your way along the way, my wife and I got giant butterbur (Petasites japonicus); Japanese sweet coltsfoot

Nukabira Kanko Hotel 3 !

by Kazu

Needless to say, Nukabira Onsen Town has to accommodate so many tourists in the white but the number of the visitors decreased naturally.
It may be tough for visitors to drive their cars to the lake in winter, even if the quality of the service, cuisine and hot spring was so high.
The ruin of the bridge is called "Taushubetsu Bridge" and is covered with the water of the lake. Please check up the season when the bridge is on above the water and can be seen.

Beautiful Flowers around the lake !

by Kazu

Photos of the beautiful wild flowers and autumnal colored foliage were displayed on the wall. It was like the process to enter the sacred area and turn myself to another kind of creature.
At least, on my way to the room I would stay, I learned a lot about the area around the lake rapidly, I think. The photos might encourage the visitors to stay in the area much longer than scheduled and to visit again.
So many people had visited the area but even this popular hot spring bath area had experienced so tough times to run the facilities and to make ends meet. A young scion of a inn inspired entrepreneurship in the area and the fellows.

Nukabira Kanko Hotel 2 !

by Kazu
Can you see the photo of the ruin of the bridge on the lake ? The bridge was for the train that carried the trunks of spruce from this area to Asahikawa.
Above is the photo of the building of Nukabira Kanko Hotel I stayed on that day.
They seemed to be comparatively newer than the main building.
On the wall of the isle to the new building, so many beautiful photos of the scenery around the lake were displayed . They were like drawings and too beautiful to forget.

Lake Shikaribetsu to Lake Nukabira !

by Kazu

It was getting cloudy. I left Lake Shikaribetsu for Lake Nukabira that was located on the north of Lake Shilkaribetsu.
The road from Lake Shikaribetsu to  Lake Nukabira is so narrow that the tourists should drive their cars so carefully. No guard rail was built on the lakeside of the road.
This road can not be used in winter. Please enjoy the tour from Lake Shikaribetsu to Lake Nukabira in spring, summer and autumn.

Lake Shikaribetsu 4 !

 by Kazu

Different from driving with my wife,I could spend my time as I liked. I could take my time enough but I felt something different.
Not so many tourists could be seen near the lake on that day. You can see the fish called "Oshorokoma", a kind of salmon and trout in the lake.
Lake Shikaribetsu was made by the lava dome that prevented the water flow of Yambetsu River so many years ago.

Lake Shikaribetsu 3 !

 by Kazu

This is Hotel Fuusui from the lake-side deck. I've never stayed in this hotel before. But I stayed in Hotel Fukuhara with my wife three times before our marriage and after. Minerva Art Museum was so nice to kill time in winter.
This is a hot spring foot bath on the deck on the lake-side in front of the hotel.Watching the scenery of the lake and Mt. Rips, you will be able to spent solid hours there.
I felt kind of loneliness without my wife on that day but it was a good chance to review my life and plan the future for us. Iheard that such adult lonely tour is "in" for males in Japan.

Lake Shikaribetsu 2 !

by Kazu

Can you see the mountain shaped like the upper rip ? With its reflection on the lake, the silhouette of the mountain is like a rip so the Mountain is called Kuchibiru Yama which means Mt. Rips  in Japanese.
The correct name of the mountain is Mt. Tenbou and the peak is 1,173 meters high. Another mountain named Mt. Hakuun is also near the lake and 1,187 meters high.
Two boats for cruise on the lake  were waiting for the guests but no guests could not be expected on that day.
