Hokkaido Shrine Annual Festival !

by Kazu

The annual festival of Hokkaido Shrine was carried out even in the rain The float peculiar to the community was lugged around in the town in order to show the icon of the community to the residents and to show the current scenery of the town to the deity in the portable shrine.

After being hit by cold rain, I hoped the staff could have such hot, tasteful, spicy and energizing ramen noodle soup to warm them up. The boiled sprout was so spicy that you could do a chug-a-lug of pints of beer three times with the service veggie.
You can select various kinds of noodle depending on the hardness of them. The second hardest is called "wire" and the hardest is called "just taking off the powder" that means to boil the noodle for a second just to take off the powder on the noodle.
Sesame, black pepper, white pepper, spicy oil were on the counter to entertain yourself widening and deepening the world of ramen noodle soup.
"Barikiya" headquartered in Hakata, Kyushu Island deployed here and there in Sapporo City.
Enjoy the draw of noodle world !

Go back to west !

by Kazu

After finished all the meeting and investigation in this business jaunt, we took the train from Kushiro to Sapporo.
Different from the paddy fields in western and central part of Hokkaido, veggie fields and pastures account for the most of the plain.

Eve the gray sky played up the dignity of deities in the eastern part of Hokkaido.
The scenery from the window of the train is a little bit different from what can be seen while driving a car on the road because the routes  are different.
I think the railway might be more eco-friendly than the road when it  comes to building the way because cutting off parts of mountains is not required to make the railway compared to building roads.
Going across the river, paddy fields, veggie fields and residential are of the cities and towns, the train carried us to the place where our be-loved is working, living and sleeping.
Obihiro City is the biggest city between Sapporo and Kushiro and the center of farming and cattle raising in Hokkaido. Needless to say, many top confectioneries are headquartered.

I think I contributed a lot to their sales quota on the day because I bought so much drink in the cart.
In the cart of the train swinging right and left, our stomachs might become bottomless to some extent. This vendor going back and forth allures so much passengers.
As it was getting dark outside, some passengers started to sleep and others were waiting for the vendor.
The lesser the rest of the journey becomes, the more we become eager to do what can not be done outside the train.
Is it natural ?

Dried "Shishamo" with beer !

by Kazu

Spirinchus lanceolatus is the nomenclature of these fish.
It is similar to Japanese smelt called Wakasagi in Japanese but it is larger and more tasteful than Japanese  smelt .
Every time I  visit Kushiro City, I buy it with beer at the railway station. It is sold as "Hime Shishamo" and approximately 500 Japanese yen.

Each piece is like this.
It contained shishamo roe inside. I drank up 6 cans of beer with these fish.
The railway station of Kushiro City was so calm before the departure of the train for Sapporo City.
There were many vacant seats before the peak season of tourism and it was so comfortable to sit back and relax drinking beer with shishamo.

Kushiro City is surrounded the marsh where Japanese national treasure red-crowned white cranes are raising their kids.
Huge solar power generating system is located in the outskirt of Kushiro City.
The pioneers developed even the mead but it was so hard to cultivate such land of peat. That is why stock breeding is one of the key industry around Kushiro City other than fishery.
Have a nice weekend !

Washoh Ichiba in Kushiro City !

 by Kazu

"  As-you-like Rice Bowl" can I call in English ? It is called "Katte Don" in Japanese.
I dropped by "Washoh Ichiba" in Kushiro City before leaving there for Sapporo on way back from the business jaunt to Akkeshi Town.
I
I chose "Sashimi" which means "Sush-grade fresh fish" in Japanese, of Salmon roe called  "Tokishirazu", salmon trout, squid and Hakkaku fish like a small Sturgeon from a variety of sushi-grade fresh aquatic creatures shown on the right.
Basically, this kind of city market that has the special connection with fishermen directly opens early in the morning and place the priority on the hospitality as well as the quality and freshness of the seafood.
So many tourists and citizens were enjoyed their own arrangement of rice bowls topped with healthy and delicious seafood.
The garbage should be put into the boxes. Needless to say, the recycle system seemed to be near perfect.
I had to spend four hours in the train after leaving this market.

Oyster Cultivation in Akkeshi Town ④ !

by Kazu

Until the baby oysters have grown up enough to plant in the sea, they are raised in the barrel.
The DNA of the oysters are picked up and checked up sometimes.
They are ready to go to the ocean.
They area carried by the fishermen in Akkeshi Town and set in the net in the sea. They grow up in the ocean watching the  setting and the rising sun for years.

Oyster Cultivation in Akkeshi Town ③ !

by Kazu

The temperature of the barrels to raise the oysters has been and be controlled on the net.
The baby oysters were raised in the net or something to the extent shown on the right.
The eggs and the sperm of oysters were taken from the grown-up and the fetus will be put in the same flask.
The baby oysters seemed to be drafting in the barrel.
The baby oyster has the arms or legs and moved around the pool.
Soon the baby oysters will get the small particle to stick to and stop drafting.
The hardest work in the facility is to wash  up the barrel for raising the barrels.

To be continued !
